Branch News Items
On this page, we publish items which do not relate to our Meetings
Programme, and which may be of interest to Branch Members.
If you would like to place any item of news here, please contact
any member of the Committee. Note that we do not advertise or endorse
any product or service.
Don't forget your Free Lifetime E-mail Address!
BCS members enjoy a free e-mail forwarding facility for the lifetime
of their BCS membership. You can be assigned the e-mail address name@bcs.org.uk,
where name is chosen by you. Any email sent to this address is automatically
forwarded to the internet account of your choice. This allows you
to maintain consistent contact details throughout your career, even
if you change your ISP many times.
For more details of this facility, see http://www.bcs.org/server.php?show=conWebDoc.1115
and its associated links on the BCS web site.
We are always in need of new Committee Members!
Here is an excellent opportunity to have your say in the way the
Branch is run, and to get your favourite topics aired at Branch Meetings!
The Committee is normally composed of about 8 people. We hold Committee
meetings approximately once every 6 weeks, slightly more in the run
up to the new Session, when there is a good deal of planning to be
done. These are congenial meetings, and much is discussed, covering
all manner of topics.
So, why not volunteer your services, even just for a year, see how
you get on, and perhaps you too will become as long-serving as some
of the others!
We look forward to hearing from you - just send an e-mail or call
any Committee member on Mr Alexander Graham Bell's wonderful communication
machine!
